Sleep science, translated into products, programs, and environments

Sleep & Change Specialists advises digital health, healthcare, wearable, product, wellness, performance, hospitality, and real estate organizations on how behavioral sleep medicine and health psychology become something people actually use.

The problem we solve

Most organizations do not have a sleep knowledge problem. They have a translation problem.

The sleep and circadian literature is large and largely public. What is scarce is the ability to convert it into a product decision, a clinical protocol, an escalation rule, a lighting specification, or an intervention that a real person will still be using in week twelve. That work requires clinical experience with actual patients, fluency in the science, theories of behavior change, and understanding where digital health workflows may need help with content, strategy or adherence.

Engagements range from focused scientific and content reviews and training to ongoing advisory relationships and full program design and implementation.

Practice areas

Where the work concentrates

01

Digital Health & Product Strategy

Clinical grounding for sleep and recovery products: what the science supports, what a feature can honestly claim, where consumer measurement breaks down, and how to sequence a roadmap so clinical credibility and commercial goals reinforce each other.

02

Clinical Program Design

End-to-end design of sleep and behavioral health programs: eligibility and triage, protocol content, escalation and referral criteria, clinician staffing models, documentation, and outcome measurement built on clinical endpoints rather than engagement proxies.

03

Sleep & Circadian Science

Scientific review and translation. Evaluating claims, interpreting literature, defining measurement approaches, and advising on circadian considerations in scheduling, lighting, shift design, and travel.

04

Health Behavior Change

Applying health psychology to adherence and engagement problems: specifying target behaviors, designing for the moment of decision, structuring reinforcement, planning for lapse, and building interventions people continue after the novelty ends.

05

Wearables & Biomarkers

How to use and how not to over-interpret sleep staging, HRV, respiratory metrics, temperature, and composite scores. Includes validation framing, user-facing interpretation, and the boundary between wellness features and regulated medical device claims.

06

Clinical Workflows

Integrating sleep care into existing services: intake and screening, pathways between behavioral and medical sleep care, PAP adherence pathways, and the operational detail that determines whether a program functions in practice.

07

Clinical Training

Training licensed clinicians, coaches, and clinical teams in behavioral sleep medicine methods, including CBT-I delivery, circadian assessment, and case consultation. Includes guidance for clinicians pursuing behavioral sleep medicine board certification.

08

Healthcare & Wellness Organizations

Advisory work for health systems, payers, employers, and wellness organizations on where sleep fits in a population strategy and what a defensible sleep offering looks like.

09

Hospitality, Real Estate & the Built Environment

Sleep and circadian audits of hotels, residential developments, and workplaces: light and lighting schedules, acoustics, thermal environment, room and shift design, guest and resident experience, and the behavioral details that determine whether a space actually supports sleep.

10

Scientific & Clinical Advisory

Ongoing advisory roles, advisory board participation, scientific review of marketing and product claims, and expert input on clinical strategy.
